Abducted Niger council secretary escapes from captors

The Chairman of Munya Local Government Area in Niger State, Aminu Najumei, has disclosed that the council secretary, Daina Usman, who was abducted on Thursday night, managed to escape from his captors on Friday.

Speaking on Friday in response to reports of the abduction, Najumei explained that Usman fled while the bandits were searching for a hiding place.

Usman was kidnapped alongside his wife, two children, and another individual during a late-night attack in Sarkin Pawa, Niger State. The assailants reportedly stormed his residence near the riverbank around 10 p.m.

Confirming Usman’s escape, Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasi’u Abiodun, told Media Talk Africa that the official regained his freedom at about 3:00 a.m. on Friday.

He added, “Efforts to rescue the remaining victims are ongoing.”
