One-Party System Looming?: The Implications of Nigeria’s Mass Defection to APC – By Uchenna Brave

Every politician… virtually all the politicians in Nigeria today, both elected and unelected are leaving their parties and running into APC.

It is by instalments….those who haven’t left yet, are getting set to leave for APC “INSTALMENTALLY”.

Funny.

I don’t know whether to be happy or sad.

As someone who knows how viable and credible opposition helps a nation and keeps the ruling party on its toes, I feel sad that we are tilting towards a one-party system today.

On the other hand, I feel happy with the development, especially as it amuses me these days to tag to such news, those friends who insist that it is over for APC.

I don tag dem, tag dem, sotey I don tire to dey tag.

I love the development too because I have never hidden my love for the President’s uncommon courage in taking up those difficult but necessary tasks that should put the nation on the path to sustainable growth and development.

I love it so that those who are conspiring for their own selfish aims wouldn’t have a chance.

I also love it because of those Nigerians who rejoice over every sad news concerning Nigeria, and wince at any good news about Nigeria….these are Nigerians who hope that Nigeria never see good under this administration, just so the opposition can capitalize, and take over. Maybe if they look up and look down, and realise that there is no hope of the president losing, they may turn around to wish the nation well. Because of them, I love the mass defection to APC.

It is even funny that South East of all places is tilting towards APC.

And those who are running ahead today are just forerunners of the big masquerades.

I love it because I will never stop tagging my friend Emeka Justin Okwuka Cfr to ask him how far?

And to tell him that sooner than later, even his own governor and state will soon become APC.

It’s clear….

It doesn’t matter the nocturnal meetings of some aggrieved fellows, and attempts to merge forces against the President, it is looking like the president will have the easiest election come 2027.

I love it because the President is not perfect, yet, none is, and he is by far better than those jostling to take over.

On Super FM newspaper review this morning, many callers insisted that if the election is free and fair, Tinubu would lose.

Yet, they can’t say the candidate or the party Tinubu would lose to.

All they know is that perhaps “INEC announces him”, it wouldn’t be because he won, it would be because someone else won, but INEC chose to announce Tinubu instead.

I laughed
