EPL: Why we beat Man City 2-0 – Liverpool coach, Slot

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot has suggested why his team defeated Manchester City 2-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.

Slot watched as two goals from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai gave Liverpool all three points against Pep Guardiola’s side at Etihad.

The victory leaves Liverpool on top of the Premier League table with 11-point lead ahead of second place, Arsenal.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Slot said his team defended really well against City, adding that some good moments in the counter-attack ensured Liverpool won the game.

“If you play away at the Etihad, if you win there it is always a big win, no matter what the league table looks like,” Slot said.

“If you play away from home against a Pep [Guardiola] team it is almost impossible to have more ball possession than his team has.

“We knew we had to defend a lot and that’s what we did really well and then some good moments in the counter-attack led to us winning the game.”

Liverpool’s next Premier League match is against Newcastle United on Wednesday at Anfield.

After the Newcastle game, Slot’s men will take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg tie on March 5.
