Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu announced that vulnerable Lagosians severely affected by the current naira and fuel scarcity will receive food assistance to ease their hardship. He made the statement on Saturday during a live conference addressing the crises that have created chaos across the country.

The governor emphasized that his administration is working tirelessly to provide palliative measures for those most in need. “We have already begun distributing food packs to the most vulnerable citizens, the people most impacted by this disruption in the supply of cash,” he said. He added that the government will continue to identify additional vulnerable groups within its distribution channels to benefit from the aid.

Regarding the possibility of fare increases, Sanwo‑Olu said discussions are underway with private transport operators to regulate fares given the difficult circumstances Lagosians face. He urged the public to remain calm while the rollout of the palliatives is implemented.
