Ukraine has finally reached an agreement with the United States on a minerals deal.

According to the Financial Times, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister, Olha Stefanishyna, confirmed the development to the newspaper on Tuesday.

The report added that Ukraine had secured more favourable terms during the negotiations.

Discussions surrounding the deal have fuelled tensions between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and United States President Donald Trump over the past week.

Zelenskyy is expected to travel to Washington for a signing ceremony in the coming days.

On Monday, Trump confirmed that a multi-billion-dollar minerals deal between the United States and Ukraine would be signed soon.

He made the announcement at the Oval Office following a bilateral meeting with visiting French President Emmanuel Macron.
