Katsina Governor Aminu Masari identified security challenges as the primary reason for the low performance of infrastructural development by governors in the North West. Speaking in Katsina, the state capital, on Saturday, he addressed members of the Federal Government Implementation Monitoring Committee who were on a courtesy visit to review projects executed in the state.
Masari explained that state governments in the region are allocating substantial funds for logistical support to security agencies and local vigilante groups fighting bandits. “We in the North-West face many problems of insecurity, including banditry, and this has a negative impact on our performance,” he said. “Although we try as much as possible to perform well, the issue of insecurity hampers us.”
He added that his administration maintains a comprehensive record of expenditures on projects, infrastructural development, and security from 2015 to the present.
