Lagos Speaker Moji Meranda resigns

The speakership crisis rocking the Lagos State House of Assembly seems to be ending as Speaker Mudashiru Obasa resumes office, while Mojisola Meranda tenders her resignation.

It was gathered that Ms. Meranda resigned from her position in the interest of unity in the Assembly and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos.

Lawmakers gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell to Meranda as their esteemed Speaker during Monday’s plenary.

The lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency, Hon. Desmond Elliot, broke down during the farewell speech.
