The Secretary to the Government of Rivers State, Tammy Danagogo, has said Governor Sim Fubara is yet to formally receive the state House of Assembly’s letter ordering him to re-present the 2025 appropriation bill.
In January, Fubara signed the 2025 appropriation bill into law after it was passed by the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led faction of the Assembly.
72 hours after it was presented to the Assembly, Fubara signed it into law.
Howevver, on February 28, the Supreme Court affirmed the Amaewhule-led faction of the Assembly and ordered its members to resume sitting.
Following their resumption, Amaewhule-led assembly, in a letter dated March 3, gave Fubara a 48-hour ultimatum to represent the 2025 budget.
Reacting, the SSG said the Rivers State government got wind of the alleged ultimatum via social media.
Danagogo recalled that Fubara had assured that he would obey the judgments of the apex court.
A letter from Danagogo reads: “I hereby refer to a letter dated 3rd March 2025 on the above subject, which we came across on social media, and notify you that as at the close of work on Tuesday 4th March 2025, we are yet to receive the said letter.
“Neither the office of the governor, nor the deputy governor’s office, nor the office of the accountant-general of the state has received the said letter.”
