Ukraine would’ve lost war against Russia long ago without Starlink – Marco Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed on Sunday that Ukraine would have lost the war against Russia long ago without Starlink.

Rubio made this assertion while insisting that no one had made any threats about cutting Ukraine off from Starlink.

He was responding to a post on X by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, which stated: *”Starlinks for Ukraine are paid for by the Polish Digitisation Ministry at the cost of about $50 million per year.

The ethics of threatening the victim of aggression aside, if SpaceX proves to be an unreliable provider, we will be forced to look for other suppliers.”*

Rubio also urged Sikorski to “say thank you,” arguing that without Starlink, Russian forces would already be at Poland’s border.

“Just making things up. No one has made any threats about cutting Ukraine off from Starlink,” Rubio said.

“And say thank you, because without Starlink, Ukraine would have lost this war long ago, and Russians would be on the border with Poland right now.”

This comes after American billionaire Elon Musk warned that Ukraine’s entire frontline defence system would collapse if he “turned off” his Starlink satellite internet system.
