PDP supporters in Plateau burn billboards over ‘inadequate’ Ramadan palliatives

Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lamba ward, Wase local government area of Plateau state, staged a fiery protest on Wednesday, burning party billboards and palliatives.

Their demonstration was in response to what they called “insufficient Ramadan palliatives” distributed by the party.

The protesters, who flooded the streets, chanted slogans like “We don’t want this! Take the palliative to the chairman!” as they tore down party posters and set them on fire.

They also set ablaze the palliative packages given to them by the party.

According to local sources, the demonstrators accused the LGA chairman of withholding essential provisions meant for party members in the region.

They threatened to abandon the PDP in the 2027 elections if their grievances were not addressed.

One of the protesters, Haladu Mus, voiced his dissatisfaction, saying, “Look at this tiny amount of rice and maize they’ve given us. Just two measures of rice and one measure of maize for Ja’oji polling unit. Runji polling unit got the same meager amount for Ramadan.”

Another member, Dayyabu Ibrahim, expressed his disappointment, claiming the palliative was far from adequate. He vowed that the local party leadership would face consequences, promising that they would “see the outcome in the next election, by God’s grace.”
