Atiku Abubakar’s wife, Titi Atiku, has condemned Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi’s campaign in churches. Speaking to North‑East women stakeholders at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Yola on Saturday, she warned the Christian electorate to be wary of politicians who use religion as bait.
Titi asserted that the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Tinubu, poses no threat to her husband’s presidential ambition because “nobody is talking about him in Adamawa State.” She urged voters not to be swayed by promises that Obi will act for them simply because he is a Christian. “Obi only governed one state,” she said, contrasting his experience with Atiku’s, who “managed 36 states plus the Federal Capital Territory, making 37 states.” She added that Atiku “has done it before and he’ll do it again for you,” and that only someone who “knows the way” can rescue the nation—referring to Atiku.
According to Titi, a vote for Atiku would end the suffering of the past eight years and bring prosperity, peace, and security. She relayed her husband’s message that his mission is to “salvage the country from rot.”
Earlier, Zainab Boni‑Haruna, wife of former Adamawa State governor, echoed similar concerns, stating, “I am aware that a stranger came to town—his name is Obi. Nobody is talking about Bola Tinubu. Obi, who was once part of the PDP, is now moving from church to church seeking Christian votes on the grounds of religion. Don’t be deceived; they are lying to you.”
At the same event, Titi Atiku announced a scholarship program through her foundation, offering tuition coverage for academically excellent children at any tertiary institution in the country.
