The Diaspora Director of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, Ade Omole, expressed confidence that the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will secure a decisive victory. Speaking to journalists at the APC’s national headquarters in Abuja on Monday, Omole said a substantial number of the more than 1.6 million Nigerians living abroad are expected to return to the country to vote on Saturday.

Omole’s comments came after he recently disowned a viral video that showed branded wine being prepared for shipment to Abuja. In the 57‑second clip, a male voice—purportedly a member of Tinubu’s diaspora team—claimed that exotic bottles of wine bearing the “APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen” emblem were ready for delivery. The display of opulence sparked backlash on social media, with many Nigerians criticizing the gesture amid ongoing fuel shortages and naira scarcity. Omole denied any involvement, stating that his directorate had no knowledge of the video.

Despite the controversy, Omole remained upbeat about Tinubu’s prospects. He asserted that Tinubu is “head and shoulders above” the other candidates and that all indicators point to a bright outcome. “I strongly believe that by 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, we will be celebrating the election,” he said. “We can view the results in real time online, although INEC will need time for official collation. Based on feedback from the flag‑off in Jos and my visits to Kano, Minna, and Borno, Nigerians are eager to vote. I do not anticipate a runoff; I am confident the election will be concluded by 6 p.m.”

Omole added that while not every member of the 1.6 million‑strong diaspora with PVCs will return, many are expected to vote for Tinubu. “They will come out en masse to support our principal, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,” he affirmed, concluding that the results should be clear by the evening of the election day.
