On 21 February 2023, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) instructed its members to observe a three‑day fast and prayer, seeking God’s favour for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming general elections. The directive was issued by acting state chairman Tajudeen Lawal in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Tuesday. Lawal emphasized that the APC recognises the importance of fasting and prayer and ordered that the sessions begin on Wednesday and continue through Friday, the eve of the presidential and National Assembly elections.
Lawal specified that the prayer focus for APC members should be “God Almighty to finish His work which He had started on the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all the party’s national and state assembly candidates.” He also urged members to pray for crisis‑free elections and the subsequent victory of all party candidates, adding that their Permanent Voter Cards should be kept safely to enable participation in the elections.
