Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, led a campaign on Tuesday for the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as well as for the party’s House of Assembly and National Assembly candidates in four federal constituencies. A statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, obtained in Osogbo, noted that Adeleke addressed crowds of party supporters at various campaign venues in the Osun East and Central Senatorial Districts, urging them to vote for the PDP candidates to ensure good governance.
During the event, Adeleke handed over PDP flags to Senator Fadahunsi and other candidates in Osun East, declaring that he was already delivering good governance that would be expanded under an Atiku presidency. He said, “A vote for Atiku is a vote for a new Nigeria, for true federalism, for economic restoration. A vote for the PDP is a continuation of the July 16 liberation from bad government.”
Adeleke appealed to his supporters to “extend ‘Imole’ to reach all legislative candidates and our presidential candidate,” and urged them to complete the task begun last July by securing a massive win for the PDP on Saturday. He also called for peaceful polls, directing security agencies to arrest hoodlums and thugs, to comb and empty all identifiable hideouts, and emphasizing that his government has zero tolerance for violence. “Election is about choice and this should be done under peaceful conditions,” he concluded.
