Ogun State Pilgrims Depart for 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia

First batch of Ogun pilgrims depart Nigeria for Saudi Arabia

A significant milestone was reached on Sunday as 428 pilgrims from Ogun State embarked on their journey to the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia, to perform the 2025 Hajj. Departing from Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at approximately 4 pm, these individuals are not only representatives of their home state but also ambassadors of Islam and Nigeria as a whole.

As the pilgrims prepared to depart, they were addressed by the Ogun State Amirul Hajj, Samsudeen Apelogun, who emphasized the importance of discipline and integrity during their pilgrimage. Apelogun reminded the travelers that their actions would not only reflect on themselves and their state but also on their faith and country. He encouraged them to conduct themselves in a manner that would bring pride to Nigeria and uphold the values of Islam.

Apelogun’s message was clear: the pilgrims have a responsibility to adhere to the directives of Muslim welfare officials, ensuring a smooth and spiritually rewarding experience. He cautioned them against carrying prohibited items, engaging in behavior that could tarnish Nigeria’s reputation, and exceeding travel cash limits. By doing so, the pilgrims can focus on the true purpose of their journey – to perform Hajj with devotion and sincerity.

In his parting words, Apelogun expressed his well-wishes for the pilgrims, saying, “As you embark on this sacred journey to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj, remember that you are ambassadors of Islam. Please ensure that you do not carry any prohibited items, refrain from any actions that may tarnish Nigeria’s reputation, and adhere to the travel cash limit regulations. May your journey be blessed, and may you return with spiritual fulfillment and a sense of accomplishment.” As the pilgrims begin their journey, they carry with them the hopes and prayers of their community, and their safe return is eagerly anticipated.
