Youth Empowerment Leaders Praise President Tinubu for Appointing Young Activist to Key Position

Youth Empowerment Initiative Leaders Praise President Tinubu for Commitment to Youth Development

In a significant move, leaders of the Empowerment for Unemployed Youth Initiative (EUYI) have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering dedication to empowering Nigeria’s youth. The praise comes on the heels of President Tinubu’s appointment of Amb. Solomon Adodo, a renowned youth advocate, as a board member of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC). This strategic appointment is seen as a testament to the President’s commitment to involving young people in key decision-making positions and fostering a collaborative relationship with civil society organizations.

According to Comrade Danesi Momoh, National Coordinator of EUYI, "This is an excellent moment for us because President Tinubu has once again demonstrated his love and faith in the youth by appointing a brilliant and capable hand like Amb. Adodo to the NCDC board." Momoh highlighted Adodo’s impressive background in grassroots youth advocacy and mobilization, noting that his appointment will undoubtedly have a positive impact on young people and rural communities. "The core values that Adodo represents, such as youth inclusion and the defense of the poor, will be taken to a greater height through the NCDC," Momoh said.

The EUYI leaders also expressed gratitude to Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his role in facilitating Adodo’s appointment and for his mentorship to young leaders in Nigeria. Akpabio is recognized for his strong belief in the abilities of young people, which aligns with the EUYI’s mission to empower and uplift Nigeria’s youth.

However, the group has condemned a "mischievous campaign" launched by the FCT Stakeholders Assembly, which has questioned Adodo’s appointment based on his state of origin. Momoh responded to the criticism, stating, "Resorting to a spurious campaign of lies won’t change anything. The FCT does not belong to only one group, and it’s a fallacy to begin to screen some Nigerians out." The EUYI has called for restraint and advised those involved to wait for their turn to be recognized for their hard work and commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This development underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to youth empowerment and his willingness to work with civil society organizations to drive positive change in Nigeria. As the country continues to navigate its development journey, the involvement of young people in key positions and the collaboration between government and civil society will be crucial in addressing the challenges faced by Nigeria’s youth. With Adodo’s appointment, there is renewed hope that the NCDC will prioritize the needs of young people and rural communities, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society.
