Lagos LG poll: NNPP to select candidates by consensus

The Lagos State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has announced that it will adopt a consensus method in selecting its candidates for the forthcoming July 12 local government elections.

This was made known by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Mr Richard Benson on Thursday.

According to Benson, “We are adopting the consensus approach for our primaries.

“In places where we have many aspirants, we shall ask others to step down for the popular and strong aspirants to fly the party’s flag.”

He, however, noted that a specific date for the primaries had yet to be determined, but assured that the exercise would be conducted within the timeframe set by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission.

He added, “We are fully involved and participating in the local government election in Lagos.

“We are going to win some seats because we have areas where we are strong.

“We are going to win in our strongholds. We will spring a surprise in the election.”
