Two people were confirmed dead and many others sustained severe injuries in a Tuesday accident that occurred on Alfred Rewane Road, near the Marriage Registry intersection, and in the Isheri‑Igando area of Lagos.

LASTMA Zonal Head for Isheri, Afolalu Gbenga, confirmed the crash at Isheri. He said a pedestrian and a passenger died instantly when a PSP truck collided with a black Honda Civic (APP 79 HF) at the Isheri roundabout, just after General Hospital. The two victims were handed over to medical personnel at the scene.

Investigators found that the Honda Civic lost control due to serious overspeeding and struck a stationary PSP truck that was loading refuse by the roadside. The driver of the LT commercial bus involved suffered a serious internal back injury, while his “motor boy” broke the bone in his right leg.

The injured victims were rushed to the hospital, and the PSP trucks and the commercial LT bus were taken to Ikoyi Police Station for further investigation, according to a statement by Adebayo Taofiq, Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA.
