The Nigerian Railway Corporation announced on Tuesday that rail services will be suspended from Saturday, February 25, through Monday, February 27, ahead of the upcoming elections. Spokesperson Mahmood Yakubu said the suspension is intended to allow Nigerians to exercise their right to vote in the presidential and National Assembly elections.

The temporary suspension will affect the following routes: Abuja–Kaduna, Warri–Itakpe, Lagos–Ibadan, and the Iddo–Lagos–Ijoko interstate mass‑transit service. Yakubu added that normal operations will resume on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

In a statement, the corporation’s board and management emphasized that the decision aims to enable citizens to fulfill their civic responsibilities. They assured the public that all affected train services will restart on February 28.
