Opposition can't breathe anymore in Cross River - Dep Gov boasts

Opposition parties in Cross River State has completely been weakened and they can no longer breathe.

Deputy governor of the state, Dr Peter Odey made this remark yesterday when he stood in for Governor Otu when three key PDP figures in the state were formally received into the state ruling party, APC, at the UJ Esuene Stadium Calabar.

According to Odey, the achievements of his boss significantly weakened opposition parties in the state.

Odey listed Otu’s infrastructure, economic revitalization, healthcare, education, agriculture, and security as the major areas the government had made marks.

He noted that the influx of opposition members into the APC is a direct result of the governor’s inclusive and results-driven leadership.

“This inclusive approach to governance adopted by Governor Otu has not only improved the socio-economic standards of the people but has also weakened the opposition’s structures across the state”, Odey stressed.

Speaking, too, APC State Secretary, Pastor Patrick Asikpo Okon, said their party’s growing appeal across the state, was the outcome of grassroots mobilization and “political evangelism.”

He commended the defectors for their bold decision to join the growing number of Cross Riverians rallying behind Governor Otu’s leadership

Among those who were received into the APC were Lady Emana Duke Ambrose-Amawhe, the 2023 PDP Deputy Governorship candidate in the state, Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo, a three-term member of the House of Representatives for Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency, State Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Professor Edde Iji, and hundreds of their supporters.
