TCN snubs local manufacturers, awards Chinese firms over N160bn contracts

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced that parts of Nasarawa State would experience a power outage on Saturday.

TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to her, the development is due to planned routine preventive maintenance on a 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer at the Akwanga Transmission Substation on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 9 am to 4pm.

TCN, the maintenance would result in disruption of electricity supply by Abuja Electricity Distribution Company to Akwanga Town, Waterboard, Wamba, Power House areas, Alushi, Garaku, Gudi, Angwa Zakara, Wakama, and Nasarawa Eggon areas on Saturday.

It added that bulk electricity supply would be restored to AEDC as soon as the maintenance is concluded.

“Bulk power supply will be restored through the transformer as soon as maintenance is completed. This would enable AEDC to resume normal power supply to the affected areas,” the statement partly reads
