A fatal crash occurred on Thursday afternoon in Nabardo town, along the Bauchi‑Jos road in the Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, claiming 15 lives. Seven other people sustained varying degrees of injuries. The accident was caused by speed violation and dangerous driving.

The collision involved two commercial vehicles: a Toyota Hiace bus (registration YLA 984XA) belonging to Adamawa Sunshine Transport Corporation, and a Howo trailer (registration DKD 32 XB) owned by Dangote Company. The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Thursday night.

According to Abdullahi, the crash happened at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023, and the FRSC was notified at 3:45 p.m. Rescue teams arrived at the scene within eight minutes. A total of 22 people were involved: two adult females, 18 adult males, one male child and one female child. The loss of control due to speeding and reckless driving led to the collision.

Victims were evacuated to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi for medical treatment and confirmation. A doctor at the hospital confirmed that 15 persons—12 adult males, one adult female, and the two children—had died. Six adult males and one adult female sustained injuries of varying severity.

The FRSC chief stated that the bodies were placed in the hospital morgue before being released to the families for burial. He also noted that the rescue operation was carried out in collaboration with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force.
