NAPTIP summons singer Speed Darlington over alleged sexual misconduct with minor

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, has summoned controversial entertainer, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, over allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor.

The move follows the comments made by the singer during a recent Instagram Live session, in which he claimed to have had a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old girl.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA, reported the matter to NAPTIP, calling for an immediate and thorough investigation into the disturbing claims.

In the wake of the backlash, Speed Darlington released a follow-up video, claiming the controversial statement was part of a promotional strategy for a new song. He also apologized for any offence or distress his comments may have caused.

In a statement issued on Thursday, NAPTIP confirmed it had summoned the singer for questioning. The agency added that it would take appropriate legal action should he fail to honour the invitation.

NAPTIP reiterated its commitment to upholding the rights of minors and ensuring accountability in all cases of alleged sexual abuse or exploitation.
