Nigerian Air Force Targets Terrorists in Zamfara State, Neutralizes Over 20 and Destroys Motorcycles
In a decisive operation aimed at protecting vulnerable communities, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully neutralized over 20 armed terrorists and destroyed more than 21 motorcycles in Zamfara State. The air interdiction operation, which took place in the general area south of Mai-Galma in Maru Local Government Area, was a response to intelligence indicating a planned large-scale attack by armed bandits on unsuspecting settlements.
According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force headquarters, the operation was launched after receiving intelligence that a significant number of terrorists were massing and preparing to strike. Further intelligence confirmed that the bandits had already killed some farmers and abducted civilians, including women and children, prompting the NAF to dispatch aircraft under Operation FANSAN YAMMA on an armed reconnaissance and possible rescue mission.
As the NAF aircraft approached, the terrorists, who were traveling on over 30 motorcycles towards a nearby forest, opened fire. This led to a precision engagement that resulted in the destruction of several motorcycles and the neutralization of dozens of terrorists. Ground forces were quickly mobilized to exploit the situation, confirming the destruction of enemy assets and the neutralization of over 20 terrorists.
Unfortunately, the operation also saw the loss of two local vigilantes, with two others sustaining injuries in the crossfire. The successful operation demonstrates the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to protecting citizens and combating terrorism in the region. By taking proactive measures to disrupt and neutralize terrorist activities, the NAF is working to create a safer environment for communities in Zamfara State and beyond.
