Plateau pilgrim dies in Makkah — Daily Nigerian

A tragic incident has occurred in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where a Nigerian pilgrim, Jamila Muhammad, from Plateau State, has passed away due to complications from diabetes. This unfortunate event was disclosed by Daiyabu Dauda, the Executive Secretary of the State’s Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, in a statement released to the press on Tuesday in Jos.

According to Mr. Dauda, Jamila Muhammad’s health began to deteriorate on Monday, prompting immediate medical attention at the King Abdul’aziz hospital in Makkah. Despite efforts to provide proper medication, her condition worsened, and she sadly succumbed to the complications arising from her diabetes. The doctor at the hospital confirmed that diabetes was the cause of her death.

Mr. Dauda emphasized that the necessary measures were taken to ensure Jamila received the best possible care, stating, “When the complications began, we immediately took her to the hospital for proper medication in line with our mandate. Unfortunately, we lost her, and the doctor at the hospital confirmed it was complications due to diabetes.” He further added that Jamila has been buried in Makkah in accordance with Islamic rites.

The Executive Secretary extended his condolences to Jamila’s immediate family, acknowledging the irreparable loss they have suffered. He urged them to find solace in their faith, saying, “We condole with her immediate family over the irreparable loss and urge them to take solace in God.” This tragic event serves as a reminder of the risks and challenges faced by pilgrims during the Hajj season, and the importance of prioritizing health and safety above all else.

As the Muslim community comes together to support Jamila’s family during this difficult time, it is essential to recognize the efforts of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in ensuring the well-being of pilgrims. The board’s prompt response to Jamila’s medical emergency demonstrates their commitment to providing adequate care and support to those in need. Our thoughts are with Jamila’s loved ones, and we hope they find comfort in the knowledge that she passed away in a sacred place, surrounded by fellow pilgrims and the rich spiritual heritage of Islam.
