The Independent Electoral Commission INEC said the election will not hold in some polling units in the country.

Jigawa State Resident Election Commissioner (REC), Professor Muhammad Lawal Bashar disclosed this while briefing newsmen on plans for the upcoming presidential election in Dutse, the state capital.

He said the affected polling units are those with zero voters in the country.

“The affected polling units are those that no one registered and no transfer of voters were made in the poling unit”

Prof. Bashar said 2.2m voters are expected to cast their votes at 4,519 polling units in JIgawa.

He explained that out of the number of 4,522 polling units in the state, the election will only be held in the 4519.

He said the remaining three polling units have zero voters and there will be no election in the area.
