Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has urged citizens to prioritize prayers for the country’s military and security agencies, especially those battling terrorists and bandits. During his observation of the Eid-el-Adha prayers at the Eid Ground in Dodan Barracks, Lagos, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices of these agencies and vulnerable citizens in their prayers.

According to a statement released by his spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu stressed that the spirit of sacrifice, which is at the heart of the Eid-el-Adha celebration, should inspire Nigerians to unite and support one another. He encouraged citizens to show love and kindness to everyone, regardless of their background, and to pray hard for the troops who are making sacrifices to keep the nation safe.

The Chief Imam of Lagos State, Suleiman Oluwatoyin Abu-Nola, echoed President Tinubu’s sentiments, urging the Muslim faithful to reflect on Abraham’s sacrificial life and to learn from his example. The Chief Imam emphasized that sacrifice is essential for the progress and unity of the nation, and that Nigerians must be willing to put the needs of their community and country above their individual interests.

The Eid-el-Adha celebration was attended by several high-ranking government officials, including the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. Prominent business leaders, such as Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, were also in attendance.

President Tinubu’s call for unity and prayer comes at a time when Nigeria is facing significant security challenges. The country has been grappling with the threat of terrorism and banditry, which has resulted in the loss of lives and displacement of people. In this context, the President’s emphasis on the importance of sacrifice, unity, and prayer is seen as a way to promote national cohesion and stability.

As Nigerians celebrate the Eid-el-Adha, they are being reminded of the need to put the interests of their country and community above their individual differences. The message of sacrifice and unity is one that resonates with people of all faiths and backgrounds, and it is hoped that it will inspire Nigerians to work together towards a more peaceful and prosperous future.
