A Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) vehicle, which was transporting election materials from Abuja to Lagos, was involved in an accident on Friday evening, the eve of the elections. The incident took place at the Giri Roundabout bridge in Abuja. In addition to the election materials, the vehicle was also carrying NSCDC operatives heading to Lagos.

Footage shared on social media shows bystanders assisting in gathering papers that appeared to be electoral materials scattered on the ground. A man featured in the video reported that several passengers sustained injuries, with one individual suffering a head injury. He mentioned that some senior NSCDC officials were relocated to a different location following the accident. He stated, “When the accident happened, the people at the back hit the wood, and one person in front had a cut on the head. I don’t know if he will be able to survive. We then called for help. But some of the senior officers were moved to Gwarindada.”

As of the time of this report, it remained unclear whether there were any fatalities resulting from the accident.
