Naira Appreciates to N1547 36 Against Dollar at Official Market

Naira strengthens steadily against Dollar — Daily Nigerian

The Nigerian Naira showed a notable improvement in value on Friday, with a significant gain at the official market. According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Naira traded at N1,547.36 to a dollar, indicating a gain of N2.05. This translates to a 0.13 per cent increase compared to Thursday’s trading value of N1,549.41 to a dollar.

This positive trend marked a strong end to the trading week for the Naira, which had started the week on a high note. On Monday, the currency had gained 0.3 per cent, with a trading value of N1,544.62 to a dollar. Although it experienced a slight depreciation of 0.04 per cent on Tuesday, with a trading value of N1,545.26 to a dollar, the Naira’s overall performance for the week was promising.

The midpoint of the week saw the Naira’s value remain relatively stable, with minor fluctuations on Wednesday and Thursday. On these days, the currency traded at N1,549.20 and N1,549.41 to a dollar, respectively, representing a negligible loss of 0.01 per cent. Despite these minor setbacks, the Naira’s ability to close the trading week on a strong note is a positive indication for the Nigerian economy.

The gain in the Naira’s value on Friday is a welcome development, especially considering the currency’s overall performance throughout the week. As the Nigerian economy continues to navigate the complexities of global markets, a stable and strengthening Naira can have a positive impact on trade, investment, and economic growth. With the week ending on a high note, it will be interesting to see how the Naira performs in the coming days and whether it can sustain its upward trajectory.
