Davido, Bright Chimezie dazzle fans at live concert in Abia

It was a night of sheer ecstasy in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, as leading Nigerian music icons, including Davido, Timaya, KCEE, and highlife legend Bright Chimezie, delivered electrifying performances that left fans in a frenzy.

The star-studded concert, held on Friday night at the Umuahia Township Stadium, was organised by Abia-born businessman Lucky Igbokwe to mark the official unveiling of his two newly established radio stations—Don 103.7 FM and Ikoro 93.3 FM.

Thousands of music enthusiasts thronged the stadium to witness the grand event, which transformed the capital into a vibrant hub of rhythm and celebration. However, it was Davido and Bright Chimezie who emerged as the undisputed crowd favourites, with their performances sending the audience into a delirious dance craze.

The atmosphere reached fever pitch as Davido took the stage, receiving a rapturous welcome from fans who cheered his every move. His performance of the hit track ‘With You’ drew particularly loud acclaim, with spectators singing along word for word.

Moments later, Bright Chimezie stepped into the spotlight and reignited the crowd’s energy with a rousing rendition of his classic hit ‘Because of English.’ The performance proved irresistible, with fans seen dancing enthusiastically and shouting praise from the stands.

The synergy between the two artists did not go unnoticed. Having been seen together in Lagos just weeks prior, fans were thrilled to see the duo in Umuahia. Many inside the stadium were heard calling on Davido to record a new track in collaboration with the veteran highlife maestro. Others affectionately hailed the Afrobeat star as “our in-law,” a reference to his marriage to his wife, Chioma, who hails from the Igbo ethnic group.
