The Kano State Government has provided three operational vehicles to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Strategic Command to strengthen efforts against substance abuse in the state.

Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, Public Relations Officer of the NDLEA Kano Command, confirmed the donation in a statement released on Friday. The vehicles were formally handed over on Thursday by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk-Ibrahim, on behalf of the state governor, to NDLEA Commander Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal.

Farouk-Ibrahim said the gesture aimed to motivate the agency to intensify its operations against drug abuse. He stressed that substance abuse remains a major driver of crime and social vices, and called for continued collaboration between the state and NDLEA to protect communities across Kano.

Receiving the vehicles, Yahaya-Lawal thanked the state government and assured that they would be deployed effectively to bolster anti-drug trafficking operations. “These vehicles will enhance our operational capacity and support more robust actions aimed at dismantling drug cartels and ensuring sustained closure of drug joints across Kano State,” he said.

He commended the state government on behalf of NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba-Marwa, for its ongoing support and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to achieving a drug-free society.
