On Sunday morning, security personnel arrested three collation officers of the Labour Party in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State. The arrested agents, identified as Egbomuche Nwoke, Bartram Iwuala, and another individual whose name has not yet been disclosed, were taken into custody at the Isiala Mbano LGA collation center in Umuelemai during the ongoing results collation.
The three Labour Party agents were transported away by police officers in vehicles, including an Armoured Personnel Carrier. As of the time of this report, they had been taken to the state command headquarters while the collation of results continued. This incident has raised concerns among many observers, who view it as a tactic to intimidate the Labour Party and manipulate the election results in favor of the All Progressives Congress.
Preliminary results indicate that Chikwem Onuoha, the Labour Party candidate for the federal constituency, is currently in the lead. The Independent National Electoral Commission has completed the final collation of results.
