KOYOTE’s Shinji Introduces Fiancé MoonOne to Bandmates Amidst Rising Controversy

In a heartwarming yet drama-filled video titled "Who Would Take Our Shinji Away?" posted on her YouTube channel, KOYOTE’s Shinji recently introduced her fiancé, singer MoonOne, to her longtime bandmates Kim Jongmin and Bbaekga. This meeting, known as a "sangkyeonrye" in Korean culture, is a traditional sit-down where close family and friends are introduced before a wedding ceremony. The video, released on July 1, 2025, comes just weeks after Shinji shared the news of her engagement to MoonOne, who is seven years her junior.

During the dinner meeting, MoonOne revealed that he had been previously married and has a daughter who lives with his ex-wife. Despite this shocking revelation, Shinji expressed that she had already known and accepted MoonOne’s past, wanting her bandmates to hear it directly from him. Bbaekga, who briefly excused himself after hearing the news, later stated, "If they are happy and in love, I believe it’s not my place to be concerned." Kim Jongmin, on the other hand, reacted calmly to the news.

However, the video’s release sparked controversy online, with many viewers raising concerns about MoonOne’s attitude and past. In response, MoonOne issued a detailed statement on Instagram, apologizing to KOYOTE’s fans and others who felt uneasy about his actions in the video. He addressed several issues, including his earlier involvement in property work without a formal realtor license and allegations of school and military bullying, which he denied. MoonOne also clarified speculation about his former marriage, stating that it was due to a pregnancy, and explained that he had changed his stage name from "Giryeon" to "MoonOne" without a legal name change.

In the midst of the controversy, KOYOTE’s Bbaekga posted two Instagram stories, one featuring a group photo as his lock screen and another with lyrics from Lee Seung-hwan’s track "Family." MoonOne, reflecting on the ordeal, expressed his desire to handle things better moving forward, especially with his upcoming marriage to Shinji. As the situation continues to unfold, fans and followers are eagerly waiting to see how the couple will navigate the challenges ahead. With their love and commitment to each other at the forefront, Shinji and MoonOne are determined to make their relationship work, despite the controversies surrounding them.
