Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, praised the people of Ekiti for their peaceful conduct during the presidential and National Assembly elections held on Saturday. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support shown to the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as well as all APC National Assembly candidates. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Sunday that Tinubu won the presidential election in Ekiti State, securing 201,484 votes and defeating other candidates across the 16 local government areas.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, titled “Presidential Election: Oyebanji thanks Ekiti people for peaceful conduct, APC victory,” the governor described the victory as a reflection of the people’s affection for the party. He emphasized that it reaffirmed the mandate given to him and the APC during the June 18, 2022, governorship election. Oyebanji extended special thanks to the people of Ekiti for their peaceful conduct during the election and for their support in ensuring victory for Tinubu and all APC candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives.
The governor commended the Ekiti electorate for their honorable behavior, noting that Saturday’s election was another remarkably peaceful event. He expressed appreciation for the massive turnout in support of Asiwaju Tinubu and all APC candidates, while also looking forward to greater development and prosperity in the state. Additionally, Oyebanji thanked INEC for its significant improvements in the election process and commended the security agencies for their excellent conduct.
He also expressed gratitude to traditional rulers, religious leaders, political leaders, union leaders, and leaders of various associations and professional groups for their roles in maintaining peace in the state during and after the election. “You are the real winners,” he concluded, acknowledging their contributions to the peaceful atmosphere.
