Headline: APC Unveils Encouraging Measures for Ekiti Guber Election 2026
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, has announced plans to facilitate the participation of underrepresented groups in the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election. The party’s National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, made this disclosure in a statement released on Thursday.
In an effort to promote inclusivity, APC has made the nomination form free for female aspirants and persons with disabilities (PWDs). They are only required to purchase the Expression of Interest form. Youths between the ages of 25 and 40 are also being encouraged to participate, with a 50% discount offered on the Nomination form following the purchase of the Expression of Interest form.
Argungu stated that these forms will be available for purchase at the Directorate of Organization in the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. This move by APC is seen as a commendable stride towards fostering a democratic process that is inclusive, fair, and responsive to the diverse needs of Nigerian society.
This initiative aligns with global best practices encouraging political parties to promote gender balance and the participation of marginalized groups in governance. By providing such incentives, APC is creating a platform for these groups to actively contribute to the political process, potentially leading to more representative and accountable leadership.
As the APC gears up for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, these measures serve as a beacon of hope for underrepresented groups, signaling a commitment to a democratic process that truly fosters inclusivity and diversity.
