ADC Alleges 2027 Election Rigging Plan, Vows to Speak Out

The National Publicity Secretary of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has alleged that the 2027 general election is being structured to facilitate electoral rigging. Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Friday, Abdullahi stated that the ADC will persistently publicise this claim to alert Nigerians and the international community.

Abdullahi’s remarks represent a stark warning from a minor opposition party about the integrity of the即将到来的 electoral cycle. He accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government of being intolerant of scrutiny. According to Abdullahi, the administration exhibits frustration toward any form of dissent, preferring a landscape where no questions are asked about its decisions.

“The election of 2027 is all set to be rigged, and we will not stop saying that. We are not giving up. We have a voice, and we will use it,” Abdullahi declared. He further characterised the government’s posture as one of irritation towards the very existence of opposition, suggesting officials resent being challenged.

The ADC spokesperson’s comments highlight the anticipated tense political climate as the 2027 election approaches. His narrative frames the administrative actions of the APC-led government as deliberate steps to undermine a credible electoral process and silence critics. For the ADC, continuous public discourse on these alleged plans is presented as a necessary accountability measure.

This public allegation by a registered political party underscores deepening distrust within Nigeria’s political space. It signals that segments of the opposition are preparing to contest the electoral framework and conduct long before voting occurs. The assertion, if widely perceived, could fuel public scepticism about the independence of electoral institutions and the fairness of the upcoming polls.

The significance of such statements lies in their potential to shape both domestic and international perceptions of Nigeria’s democratic health. As the 2027 election cycle formally commences, the credibility of the process will likely be a central battleground, with parties like the ADC vowing to mount a vocal challenge against what they identify as premeditated flaws. The government’s response to these accusations, and the conduct of state institutions, will be closely monitored for indicators of openness or manipulation.
