Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has explained his decision not to vote in the recent elections. He shared his reasons on his Instagram account on Monday, emphasizing that he had international shows scheduled outside of Nigeria, which had been planned a year in advance to secure suitable venues.

Basketmouth expressed that changing his schedule due to the election date would have created significant logistical challenges, not only for himself but also for his entire crew. He noted, “I have always spoken up about the wrongs in this country. It’s quite unfortunate that I missed elections this year. However, my international shows are planned one year in advance to secure the date and venue. To have changed my date on such short notice would have been a logistical hazard.”

He also reflected on the timing of the elections, mentioning that they have not always been held in February. In closing, he expressed pride in Nigerian youth for taking a stand and thanked his loyal fans for their understanding and support. He concluded with gratitude for a successful show in Frankfurt and announced that Cologne would be next.
