Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, a businessman and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ondo South Senatorial District of Ondo State, has been declared the winner of the senatorial election held on Saturday. He emerged victorious against Mr. Agboola Ajayi, the candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the immediate past deputy governor of the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the election results in Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area. According to the INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Johnson Fashimilehin, Ibrahim received a total of 110,665 votes, while Ajayi garnered 65,784 votes.
In his announcement, Prof. Fashimilehin stated, “Having polled the highest number of votes of 110,665, I hereby declare Ibrahim of the APC the winner of the election in Ondo South. I, Prof. Fashimilehin, by the powers conferred on me as the INEC Returning Officer for this election and having satisfied the highest number of votes, hereby declare Jimoh Ibrahim returned as elected.”
