The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has reported the arrest of 19 suspects involved in the attack on a truck carrying 50kg bags of Alhamsad Rice along Zaria Road. The command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, provided this information in a statement issued on Monday. The incident took place on Sunday at approximately 11:30 AM.

According to the statement, the truck, which bore the plate number UGG 532 XA Kano, was transporting hundreds of bags of rice from Alhamsad Rice Mill in Sharada, Kano, to Zaria in Kaduna State when it was targeted by hoodlums. These individuals stole a significant number of the 50kg bags of rice loaded onto the trailer.

During the attack, good Samaritans alerted the operatives of the NSCDC Kano command, who promptly mobilized personnel to the scene. As a result of their swift response, 19 suspects were apprehended, and 29 bags of the stolen rice were recovered. Abdullahi noted that the driver of the truck and his assistants were rescued unharmed. The suspects are currently in custody, and Abdullahi indicated that they would be charged once the investigation is completed.
