#NigeriaElections2023: Abia Deputy Speaker loses Rep seat to LP

The Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Ifeanyi Uchendu, has lost the Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency election.

He lost to the candidate of the Labour Party, Ibe Okwara-Osonwa, who was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Okwara-Osonwa polled a total of 8,946 votes to defeat his closest rival and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Dan Okeke, who scored 6,635 votes.

The returning officer for the election, Mr. John Osuji, declared him the winner of the election.

He also announced that the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Okuji Oreh, polled 5,211, while Uchendu, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, scored 2,763 votes.
