Election Results: INEC clarifies alleged threat to life of collation officer in Rivers

The Independent National Electoral Commission has clarified the threat to the life of its Collaton Officer in Rivers State, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Prof Charles Adias.

Media Talk Africa reported that the threat to life was revealed at a press conference by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Johnson Sinikiem.

He alerted the Nigeria Police Force in charge of the presidential election in Rivers State about alleged threats to truncate the state’s collation centre.

“I want to urge the public and other critical stakeholders to note that the function of the state collation officer is just to collate results that cannot change”.

“I urge all those concerned to cease forthwith in unleashing threats on the collation officer”.

In another development, Snikiem suspended two houses of representative elections and the Portharcourt Senatorial district.

“I wish to notify the public of the suspension of two houses of representatives in the state and Portharcourt Senatorial District for alleged irregularities; the Commission will conduct a thorough investigation before a further decision would be taken”, he said.
