Akpabio Charges Nigerians Protect Government Facilities

Akpabio tasks Nigerians on maintenance, protection of govt facilities in their communities

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has emphasized the importance of maintaining and securing government facilities in local communities. During a project commissioning ceremony in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio urged community members to take ownership of the projects and protect them from vandalism.

As the representative of the area in the Senate, Akpabio stated that it is his duty to ensure the provision of projects that enhance the living standards of his constituents. He noted that the community has a responsibility to safeguard these facilities, as they are the direct beneficiaries. Akpabio explained that if communities fail to protect government properties, it would discourage the government from implementing more projects in the area.

The Senate President also highlighted the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to deliver democratic dividends to all Nigerians. He mentioned that the current administration is focused on improving the lives of ordinary citizens, citing the recent approval of a financial empowerment program for 1000 Nigerians from every ward across the country.

During the ceremony, Akpabio commissioned several projects, including an 8-classroom block and an ICT Centre at St Augustine Secondary School, as well as a 12-classroom block at the Community Secondary School and an ultra-modern market in Uruk-Ata 2, Etim Ekpo Local Government Area. A community leader, Chris Okorie, expressed support for the re-election of President Tinubu, Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno.

The commissioning of these projects demonstrates the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and economic opportunities in local communities. By emphasizing the importance of community ownership and protection of government facilities, Akpabio aims to encourage a sense of responsibility and cooperation between the government and the people. As the administration continues to implement its development agenda, the success of these projects will depend on the collective efforts of the government and the communities they serve.
