More companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited have released their final audited reports for the 2022 financial year. Nestle, in its financial report, announced a final dividend of N36.50 per 50 kobo ordinary share. The company earned revenue of N446.8 billion, reflecting a 27 percent increase compared to the N351.8 billion recorded in the previous accounting year. Additionally, Nestle declared a profit of N48.96 billion for the year, which marks a 22 percent increase over the N40 billion reported in 2021.

Construction company Lafarge also announced its financial results, declaring a final dividend of 200 kobo per unit of 50 kobo ordinary share, as noted in a statement signed by the General Counsel and Company Secretary, Mrs. Adewunmi Alode. Lafarge reported revenue of N373.3 billion, up from N293 billion in 2021, and a profit after tax of N53.6 billion, representing a 5.2 percent increase over the N51 billion recorded in the previous year. In his comments on the report, Lafarge Africa’s Chief Executive Officer, Khaled Dokani, expressed concerns about the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on the company’s growth. He stated, “In 2022, we recorded 27.3 percent and 29.3 percent improvements in net sales and recurring earnings before interest and tax, respectively, compared to FY 2021 results. However, the worsening exchange rate situation led to revaluation losses, constraining our net income growth to 5.2 percent.”

Energy company Seplat, in its audited financial report, declared a final dividend of $0.025 (2.5 cents) per ordinary share of N0.50 each, along with a special dividend of $0.05 (five cents) per ordinary share of N0.50 each. Seplat experienced a 29.8 percent increase in revenue, rising from $733.2 million in 2021 to $951.8 million in 2022.

In a separate announcement, Lafarge revealed that a director, Mrs. Virginie Darbo, had resigned effective February 24, 2023. Darbo, who was appointed to the board on December 11, 2020, served as a non-executive director until her resignation. She has been succeeded by Ms. Sonal Shrivastava, who will serve as a non-executive director effective February 25, 2023. Shrivastava currently holds the position of regional chief financial officer at Holcim Group for the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa region, based in Mumbai, where she oversees the group’s overall finance, accounting, and tax functions in the region.
