Military operations conducted by troops of Operation HADIN KAI have resulted in the elimination of 12 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in targeted offensives across Borno and Yobe States. The operations, which took place between Friday and Saturday, were carried out in collaboration with local security forces and supported by intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) from the Air Component.
According to a credible source at Army Headquarters, the operations cleared terrorist enclaves in Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, and Gaza, resulting in the recovery of eight AK-47 rifles, eight fully loaded magazines with 7.62mm ammunition, as well as assorted drugs and medical supplies used by the terrorists. The source disclosed this information to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja.
The military authorities have commended the resilience and determination of the troops, urging the Theatre Command to maintain the offensive against all terrorist elements. This development is part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region. The operations demonstrate the collaborative approach being taken to address the security challenges posed by terrorist groups.
The recovery of weapons, ammunition, and medical supplies highlights the impact of the operations on the terrorist groups’ capabilities. The use of ISR from the Air Component also underscores the importance of technological support in modern military operations. As the military continues to push against terrorist elements, the significance of these operations lies in their potential to disrupt and degrade the capabilities of groups like ISWAP.
In the context of the ongoing conflict in the region, these operations are a significant development. The Nigerian military has been engaged in a protracted campaign against terrorist groups, including ISWAP and Boko Haram. The success of these operations is a testament to the determination and resilience of the troops involved. As the situation continues to evolve, it is likely that the military will maintain its offensive posture, seeking to build on the momentum generated by these recent successes.
