The Labour Party in Lagos State has announced that it will not pursue a political alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming governorship election. This statement was made by the party’s spokesperson, Olubunmi Odesanya, during an exclusive interview on Tuesday.
Previously, a prominent supporter of the Labour Party and Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, indicated that the party would explore all available options to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 11 governorship elections. He stated, “We shall consider all the options before us.” However, Odesanya clarified that the Labour Party has no intention of collaborating with the PDP for this election. “Labour Party is not considering any alliance with PDP,” Odesanya confirmed in a phone interview with our correspondent.
It is worth noting that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, previously defeated the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, who is also a former governor of Lagos State.
