Lawmaker Nkemkanma Kama Dumps Labour Party

Nkemkanma Kama, the lawmaker representing Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has formally withdrawn his membership from the Labour Party. This development was made public through a letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of the party in Amaze Ward, Ishiagu Community, Ivo Local Government Area.

In the letter, Kama explained that his decision to leave the party was the result of extensive consultations with his family, political associates, and other stakeholders. He stated that after careful consideration, he concluded that this step was necessary for the greater good of his constituents. Kama, who won his seat in the 2023 general election under the Labour Party banner, expressed his deep appreciation to the party’s leadership and members, particularly in Abia State, for their support during the election.

The lawmaker’s decision to exit the Labour Party comes amid a recent leadership crisis that has led several stakeholders to defect to other parties. Although Kama did not disclose which party he intends to join next, there are indications that he may be considering joining the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Kama’s departure from the Labour Party is significant, given his position as a member of the House of Representatives. His decision may have implications for the political landscape in Abia State and beyond. As the political terrain continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how Kama’s move will impact his constituents and the parties involved.

The Labour Party has faced challenges in recent times, including a leadership crisis that has led to the exit of several key stakeholders. The party’s ability to retain its members and maintain a strong presence in the political arena will be closely watched in the coming months. Meanwhile, Kama’s next move is expected to be closely monitored, as it may have significant implications for the political landscape in Nigeria.
