The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has appointed two senior executives to key positions: Andy Odeh as Chief Corporate Communications Officer and Morenike Adewunmi as Chief Relations Officer. Odeh’s appointment follows the resignation of former spokesperson Femi Soneye two months earlier.

Andy Odeh brings more than three decades of experience in communications and business administration across the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting sectors. He spent 26 years at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he held leadership roles in community relations, business logistics, and corporate communications. At NLNG, Odeh oversaw the company’s rebranding, launched a micro‑credit scheme for host communities, and instituted the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting, demonstrating his expertise in public relations and advertising. His academic credentials include degrees from the University of Jos, University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the Nigeria Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

Morenike Adewunmi is a legal professional with more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Her expertise lies in stakeholder management and advocacy, honed during an extensive tenure with the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN). Adewunmi is widely respected for navigating complex external environments, ensuring regulatory compliance, and safeguarding the company’s “license to operate.”

These appointments underscore NNPCL’s commitment to effective communication, stakeholder management, and regulatory compliance. As the national oil company continues to evolve, the roles of Odeh and Adewunmi will be crucial in shaping its public image and relationships with key stakeholders, positioning NNPCL to enhance its operations and reputation in the oil and gas industry.
