APC came, saw, conquered Nigeria - Dino Melaye

Former Nigerian lawmaker Dino Melaye, now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be defeated in the 2027 general elections. He made the statement during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme. The APC has ruled since 2015, when it won the presidential election and secured a majority in the National Assembly, but Melaye believes its time in power is ending.

Melaye cited misgovernance and maladministration as key factors that will lead to the APC’s downfall. He argued that Nigerians are now more prepared to defend their votes, making the 2027 elections likely to be closely contested. According to him, the opposition is better prepared, and the next electoral contest will not be straightforward.

The former lawmaker also accused the APC of mismanaging the country, asserting that the party’s period of dominance is over. His comments come as the nation gears up for the 2027 elections, with the ADC—his party—among those seeking to unseat the APC and its candidate, President Bola Tinubu. Melaye expressed confidence that the ADC will emerge victorious and unseat President Tinubu.

The 2027 elections are expected to be highly competitive, with several parties vying for power. Melaye’s remarks suggest that the opposition is growing increasingly confident of its chances. As the country moves closer to the polls, it remains to be seen whether the APC can maintain its grip on power or if a new party will prevail. The outcome will have significant implications for Nigeria’s political landscape, especially as the nation confronts economic and security challenges that the next government will need to address effectively.
