A terrifying midnight ordeal in the quiet confines of Takuma Fulani Camp has led to the arrest of a young man accused of turning a peaceful home into a scene of violence. The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the detention of 20-year-old Tukur Bello, who allegedly stormed a residence with a sharp cutlass, intent on abducting two women as they slept.
The incident unfolded around midnight on July 25, 2026, when Bello reportedly forced his way into the home. According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the suspect threatened to snatch both women, but their desperate screams turned the tables. In a frantic bid to silence one of his would-be victims, Bello allegedly slashed at her, leaving deep cuts on her hands.
The commotion did not go unnoticed. Neighbors and local vigilantes, alerted by the cries for help, converged on the scene and managed to overpower the suspect before he could escape. Bello, a resident of the same camp, was taken into custody with the very weapon he is accused of wielding.
The case was first logged at the Mokwa Divisional Police Headquarters before being escalated to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna on July 30. There, detectives are conducting a discreet and thorough investigation, while Bello remains behind bars, facing intense interrogation.
