The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has called on the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to accept their defeat and congratulate Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu. This statement was made by the APC PCC Media Adviser, Dele Alake, who criticized both the LP and PDP for their demands to cancel the presidential election results.

On Tuesday, representatives from the PDP and LP held a media briefing to express their grievances regarding the conduct of the presidential election that took place on Saturday. During this briefing, they urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to annul the election results. In response, Alake emphasized that the election had already been won by Tinubu, as confirmed by the results declared at the collation centres across the states.

Alake referenced the actions of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, noting that he did not wait for INEC to complete the collation process before congratulating President Buhari, demonstrating true democratic spirit and sportsmanship. He urged Abubakar and Obi to emulate this honorable behavior instead of exacerbating tensions with reckless statements from their supporters. Alake concluded by encouraging both candidates to take the necessary steps for the sake of Nigeria by conceding defeat and reaching out to Tinubu.
